These cheeseburger sliders are one of those recipes I keep coming back to. Easy, kid-friendly, and somehow still fun enough for game day. They’re perfect when you want something that feels like a treat without standing at the stove flipping burgers. Bonus: the dipping sauce makes everyone think you did something extra (you didn’t 😉).
I originally shared this recipe over on TikTok because it’s one of those “why didn’t I do this sooner?” meals. Simple, low-mess, and a total win with kids. After so many saves and questions, I wanted to share the full recipe here so you can bookmark it for busy weeknights, Super Bowl parties, or anytime you need a reliable crowd-pleaser.
Ingredients
For the Burgers
1–1½ lb ground beef
Seasoned salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
Yellow mustard (for the pan)
American cheese slices
1 package Hawaiian rolls
For the Burger Dipping Sauce
½ cup mayonnaise (regular or reduced fat)
3 tablespoons ketchup
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
1 teaspoon white vinegar
2½ tablespoons sweet pickle relish
For the Topping, Before the Final Bake
Butter, melted
Worcestershire sauce
How to Make Cheeseburger Sliders
Step 1: Cook the Burger Base
Preheat your oven to 400°F. In a bowl, mix the ground beef with seasoned salt and pepper. Grease a 9×13 baking dish and drizzle yellow mustard across the bottom (trust me on this). Press the beef evenly into the dish and bake for 20 minutes, until fully cooked.
Step 2: Make the Dipping Sauce
While the beef bakes, stir together the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, white vinegar, and sweet pickle relish. Cover and place in the fridge to chill until ready to serve.
Step 3: Assemble the Sliders
Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, separating the tops from the bottoms. Grease a second 9×13 baking dish and place the roll bottoms inside. Layer American cheese over the rolls. Add the cooked burger slab on top, then layer more American cheese. Finish by placing the roll tops on. If you want to layer in some diced onion, pickles, or cooked bacon, now's a great time to do it!
Step 4: Bake
Mix melted butter with a splash of Worcestershire sauce and brush generously over the tops of the rolls. Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes, until warm, melty, and lightly golden.
Why This Works for Kids (and Parents)
A lot of slider recipes use loose, crumbly ground beef and while that sounds fine in theory, it usually ends with meat falling out everywhere and frustrated little hands.
Baking the beef into one solid patty makes these sliders so much easier for kids to eat. Everything stays together, the sliders hold their shape, and there’s no chasing runaway beef across the plate. It’s less mess, fewer crumbs, and way more successful bites.
The slightly sweet Hawaiian rolls and melty American cheese keep the flavors familiar and comforting, nothing fancy, nothing “weird,” just a really good cheeseburger in slider form.
Basically: fewer tears, fewer napkins, and a dinner that actually gets eaten.
Make-Ahead & Busy-Weeknight Tips
Make ahead: Bake the beef patty earlier in the day and store it in the fridge. Assemble and bake the sliders when ready to eat.
Party prep: Assemble the sliders completely (skip the butter topping), cover, and refrigerate. Brush with butter and bake right before serving.
Leftovers: Reheat covered in the oven or air fryer so the rolls stay soft and don’t dry out.
Feeding a crowd: This recipe doubles easily and is perfect for Super Bowl parties, playdates, or family gatherings.
Easy Game Day Sliders Everyone Will Love
Cut into sliders and serve warm with the chilled burger sauce for dipping. These disappear fast, especially with kids, so if you’re serving them on game day, you might want to make a double batch.
If you’re more of a visual person, you can watch this recipe come together over on TikTok. Seeing the beef baked into one big patty really helps it click.
Whether you found this recipe there or landed here from a search, I’m so glad it’s making its way into your meal rotation.
Whether you’re planning Super Bowl snacks, feeding picky eaters, or just need an easy dinner that actually works for kids, these cheeseburger sliders are one to keep on repeat.
